The story is set in Tuscany and focuses on a French antiques dealer, played by Juliette Binoche, who spends a day with the writer of a recently-published book on the value of copies in art (British opera singer William Shimell, in his first film role).

The couple appear to have met each other for the first time that day, but as the film progresses it is left deliberately unclear as to whether they are a married couple attempting to rekindle their relationship by pretending to be strangers, or strangers playing the part of a couple. EMI’s Original Hits: Rap & Soul is a seven-disc, 116-track budget-line box set. The selections span several decades and there’s little rhyme or reason. It’s a grab bag in which several artists appear three times, as is the case with Brass Construction, Phil Fearon & Galaxy, Soul II Soul, Freddie Jackson, and Loose Ends (though not with “Hangin’ on a String”). Gang Starr is present with five songs, while Wu-Tang Clan appears once. There’s no distinction made between radio edits, extended mixes, or album versions, which can be problematic for people expecting a specific form of an inclusion, but the set is, nonetheless, a cheap way to obtain a big chunk of popular R&B and rap.
